Welcome to PreK B!

May News from Holy Trinity PreK B

It’s official… We’re down to the last six weeks of school.  This year has gone by so quickly and the children are as energetic as ever now that the spring season has truly arrived.

May’s curriculum will include reviewing the name & sound of each alphabet letter, numbers, and shapes.  We will also talk about the Blessed Mother and prepare for Mother’s Day. We will finish The Fountas & Pinnell shared reading series but will continue to reinforce letter and word recognition with activities that support your child’s developing literacy skills.   Our nursery rhymes are The Crooked Man and This Little Piggy.  We’ll also “add in” lots of spring and summer topics to keep the students engaged.

We will also celebrate summer birthdays this month – if your child has a birthday in the summer, feel free to send in a treat for them and we will celebrate their summer birthday!  Just let me know when you are sending it in.

Our Race for Education will be held on May 3rd.  Please support our little school with a BIG heart and help us reach our goal of $18,000!!  Parents were sent an email in April with a link to your child’s web-based donation page.  Please share on your social media page – Facebook, Instagram, etc. We appreciate your support!!! Also, a note was sent home in your child’s Wednesday folder with information for Race Day on what to wear & bring – (gym shorts or long sweatpants, baseball themed shirt, hat, sunglasses, and a beach towel to sit on). Please remember there is no breakfast served on Friday May 3rd – each child needs to bring their own snack and drink.  If your child does not like hot dogs, please pack a lunch for your child.

Our field trip to Shady Brook Farm is on Thursday May 23rd. Forms and money are due by May 16th.  Please remember that if your child is not going on the trip, he/she will stay home from school that day.  We will meet at the farm by 9:45am.

Finally, our last day of school and our PreK graduation will be on Thursday, June 6th.  All parents, siblings, grandparents, and special friends are welcome to attend and should meet us in the cafeteria by 9:00am.  We will sing a few songs and then say our goodbyes and dismiss the children from the cafeteria when the program ends. Light refreshments will be served, and more information will follow soon.

Important Dates: No School May 24th & 27th and we have an 11:45am dismissal on May 31st.

Some spring reminders - PreK morning drop off is between 8:05 and 8:20am.  If your child arrives later, they will be marked as tardy.  If there is no teacher’s aide outside when you arrive, parents or guardians must walk their child to the cottage door.  Please do not let them walk up to the door by themselves.  This is a safety precaution for all parents & students, thank you!

Also, please do not allow your child to play or pick up items near the cement wall in front of the Verizon building.  It is a concern of ours and we do not want any child getting hurt or damaging property.  We appreciate your help and support with this!

May Supply Schedule for tissues, disinfecting wipes, baby wipes and paper plates: (one of each please) Thank you very much!!!!
